Blue Sky Disaster Relief provides relief kits for teens and their families to become stronger in the face of severe weather.

Blue Sky's efforts have focused on increasing risk awareness, disaster prevention, recovery supply distribution, and emotional support.

Executive Summary

2024 has been a year of growth and resilience for Blue Sky Disaster Relief. Thanks to our dedicated supporters and partners, we were able to expand our services, launch new Cold Weather and Extreme Cold Weather Kits, and organize support efforts for teens and their families affected by severe weather events in four states. This report highlights our key achievements, financial stewardship, and the lives impacted by your generosity.

 

Introduction

At Blue Sky Disaster Relief, we are dedicated to helping communities prepare for and recover from the devastating effects of severe weather. Our mission is to provide timely, life-saving resources and foster resilience in the aftermath of disasters. This year’s report reflects the unwavering commitment of our volunteers, donors, and partners in bringing hope to those in need. A message from our Executive Director:

Accomplishments and Impact

Quantitative Impact

  • Logged more than 500 volunteer hours

  • Delivered more than 1,000 supplies delivered to tornado, hurricane, and wildfire survivors

  • Supported disaster-affected communities across four states

  • Raised awareness of storm risk and preparation education nationwide

  • In collaboration with governmental, not-for-profit, and for-profit organizations, we provided education, emotional support, and supplies to affected communities.

 

Program Highlights

  1. Resilience Support: Provided supplies and support to teens and their families whose homes were damaged or lost due to severe weather events.

  2. Preparation Support: Volunteered hours and materials to educate families about ways to reduce risk of severe weather damage, and to increase adoption of tools 

  3. New Product Launches: Tailored kits for winter weather, resulting in the release of Cold Weather and Extreme Cold Weather Kits.

  4. Holiday Giving Initiative: Enabled donors to gift kits or make donations in honor of loved ones, providing vital aid to communities during the holiday season.

Future Plans

Insurance companies are increasingly struggling to provide the natural disaster support families need. Blue Sky Disaster Relief is needed more than ever. Looking ahead, our organization aims to:

  • Develop additional natural disaster preparation and recovery tools

  • Expand support to impacted communities

  • Partner with more not-for-profit and for-profit organizations to increase education and adoption of resilience practices
